Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
I hope you are able to come to our Writing Fair on Monday. It is a celebration of the written work the children have been doing. This week, the Stage 2 students were writing Hybrid texts. They are very excited to showcase their writing to the school and to parents. I’ve attached an example below of a Hybrid text written by Eden and Ethan - click on each image to enlarge.
Poddy Twins Go To The Vet - by Eden & Ethan
We will also have a ‘Caption This’ competition. The photos for this competition are below so you can start thinking about what to write with the children. The cleverest caption will win a prize!
Our Writing Fair will commence at 2:30pm where parents and children can visit the different classrooms to see how writing develops from Kindergarten to Year 6. It will conclude with an assembly at about 2:50pm.
I remind you that next Friday 18th November is a pupil free day. Staff are undertaking professional learning in preparation for the new K-2 English and Mathematics Curriculum. As such, no students are required at school on Friday.
Our final day of the school year is Friday 16th December.
Next year, the first day of school for all students is Wednesday 1st February 2023.
All of these dates can be found on the school calendar on our school website under the Calendar tab.
Regards,
Nathan Trezise,
Principal
Kids Tutoring Kids
Each week the Stage 3 students run Kids Tutoring Kids. It is held at lunchtime on Monday and allows the Stage 3 students to teach the younger students different things. This week the students were learning about OzTag. Please watch the three very quick videos below from this week's Kids Tutoring Kids.
Canteen on THURSDAY next week
As we are having a pupil-free Staff Development Day on Friday of next week, canteen will be changed to Thursday next week. You will need to have your orders in the day before by 8:30am.

Each of these students has their affirmation written on a slip of paper to bring home - ask them about it!
Congratulations to the following students: Piper, Keira, Reid, Eden, Rosie, Abby T, Ethan, Cormac, Ivy, Rory, Aurora, Rokko, Ryan, Lakota, Tate & Hunter.
Book Club
Issue 8 Book Club catalogues were sent home this week. Orders and money are due back at school by next Thursday 17th November.
Term 4 Swimming Lessons
Our Term 4 swimming program continues for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Swimming is a compulsory part of the PDHPE curriculum.
Students will need to bring swimmers, a towel, goggles, caps (the school can provide swimming caps for those students who don't own one), and sun shirts to school each Thursday for their lesson. There is no extra cost for swimming lessons, as the school covers the pool entry fees and payments to the swim teachers.
Swimming lessons will take place each Thursday in Term 4 (weather permitting) at the following times:
Stage 3 at 1pm
Stage 2 at 1.40pm
K - 2 at 2.20pm
Students will walk to and from the pool. Please note, K - 2 students are to be collected from the pool at the end of the day each Thursday as their lesson will finish at 3:05pm. K - 2 students catching buses will do so from Dorrigo Public School, supervised by our staff.
