Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

This term, Alan Pade will teach the students tennis. We are hoping to offer four tennis lessons (depending on the weather), so that students have the opportunity to learn about this sport. We finally managed to get our students to their first tennis session today. Due to the weather and COVID it has been postponed for a number of weeks. We were so glad that children participated in tennis at last.  Maybe we will spark an interest in the students and have the next Ash Barty (or male equivalent) among us.

Our First Tennis Sessions

We congratulate Freya Wright on her recent involvement in Diocesan Athletics. Freya competed on Wednesday in long jump at the Diocesan Carnival. She came 7th, which is a fantastic achievement. We commend her on her effort and on making it to this level of competition.

This week the staff engaged in Professional Learning during our final twilight training session of the year on Accountable Talk. Our school goal for this year is to help all students to become better writers. On Thursday evening, we learnt about the importance of talking before writing. We are seeing some excellent growth in student writing across the school as we meet regularly to monitor their writing progress. We look forward to sharing student learning in writing in the near future.

Regards,

Nathan Trezise,

Principal

We are honoured to be on the ancestral lands of the Gumbaynggirr people. We acknowledge the First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. We pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend our recognition to their descendants who are present.

Mini Vinnies Blanket

This week Mini Vinnies began work on our blanket. We have been able to purchase material as a result of the generous donations from our Sports Mufti day. Mini Vinnies members enthusiastically gave their time to begin the project.

Thank you,

Louise Sprowles - LOSEC

2022 Book Week & Book Fair events

2022 Book Week & Book Fair is coming up in Week 6, from 22-26 August. Thank you to Ashlee Turner, who has volunteered to be our Book Fair coordinator again this year. This year's theme is "Paws for Books". There will be a display of books available for purchase set up in the library during this week. Each Book Fair is designed to give kids access to more books they want to read, from relevant new-releases to classic award-winners. Every purchase made will benefit our school, as we receive a percentage of all sales made as free books for our library.

The students will be visiting Dorrigo Library on Wednesday 24th August to participate in some sessions with the library staff.

On Thursday 25th August, we will be holding our Book Character Dress-up Parade at 11:30am - this is great fun, with all students and staff dressing up for the day as their favourite character from a book. Time to start thinking about your costumes!

How to Cancel a Canteen Order

If you need to, you can cancel canteen orders before 8:30am on Friday mornings. If you know your child is going to be away you can go into Compass Canteen and select "cancel order". The money goes back into your Compass "wallet" so you can use it next time you order.
