Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
It was so good to see so many of you at school last night for our Friendship Night. I acknowledge and thank our Parent Assembly Representatives, Ashlee Turner and Sig Jagers, for organising our catering. I’m sure you’ll agree, the food was amazing. I also thank Janita Thompson and Christine Morrison from the Catholic Schools Office for their support of the event.
I sat in with the parent session and my key learnings were:
- We need to engage the children in conversation every day, as this is a skill which helps them to make friends at school.
- When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, we need to support our children by doing the following:
- Just listen.
- Empathise
- Ask questions.
- Problem-solve.
- Offer some input.
It is important not to skip steps 1 - 3.
Yesterday, the children also participated in Bully Zero. This was a visiting presentation that helped us to deepen our understanding of Bullying and focused on strategies to stop it or what to do if you come across it.
Finally, our K - 2 Fun Run and Athletics qualifying is on Monday. This commences at 1pm. A brief description of the event is below. Supporters are most welcome to attend.
1pm: Students walk the course
1:15pm: K - 2 Fun Run
1:25pm: 1500m Qualification event
Ribbon Presentation
1:45 - 3:00pm: Long jump, shot put, vortex throw, standing jump, tennis ball shot put rotations.
Regards,
Nathan Trezise,
Principal
