Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
It was so good to see our students marching at the ANZAC Day commemoration on Monday. My thanks go to the staff who attended as well as the parents for supporting the children at the march. Photos from the march are below.
Next Monday, we are holding our first prayer assembly that parents are permitted to attend. Our prayer assembly will commence at 2:45pm. Please come along and join us! This assembly will be run by our Kinder students.
We were supposed to hold our Fun Run today, but unfortunately the grounds and the track are still too wet. We are hopeful that this event can take place next Friday 6th May. Spectators are most welcome to attend; we will commence at 9:15am with the K - 2 Fun Run. There is a fun run for parents to join in too if you wish to get moving on the day as well.
Finally, we wish our Zone Cross Country students all the best as they compete on Wednesday next week. These students will travel to Grafton to race. An alternative wet weather track has been found so this event can take place. We look forward to seeing how our children go.
Regards,
Nathan Trezise,
Principal
We are honoured to be on the ancestral lands of the Gumbaynggirr people. We acknowledge the First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. We pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend our recognition to their descendants who are present.
Mother’s Day Liturgy and Afternoon Tea
To all our Mums and Grandmothers and mother figures - we would like to invite you to a Mother's Day celebration.
When: Monday 9th May 2:30 pm
Where: Mt St John's school undercover area
We will be creating a display for our Mother’s Day Celebration, and we would like to include photos of our Mt St John’s mothers/ grandmothers/ mother figures. Could you please email your photos to louise.sprowles@lism.catholic.edu.au, or drop them off at school so we can scan them. Or you can send the photos in to school with your child. Could we please have these photos no later than Friday 6th May.
Zone Cross Country
Good luck to all those students who have been selected to participate in the Zone Cross Country, which is being held next Wednesday 4th May in Grafton. Our thanks go to Alicia Miller, who is driving the bus to the event.
School Fun Run Postponed
We have made the decision to postpone the Fun Run which was planned for today. Unfortunately the school grounds and track where students will run is still much too wet and muddy. We are currently squelching when we walk on the grounds, so it is not feasible to have a running event on a track like this. As always, the safety of students comes first.
We are aiming to hold this event next Friday 6th May. Information about the event is below:
9:15am K - 2 Fun Run
9:30am Non-competitive Fun Run
9:45am Fun Run for students, staff and parents.
Spectators are most welcome, so we hope to see you here next week!
Child Protection Policy and Procedures
At Mt St John's we follow the Lismore CSO Child Protection Policy and Procedures. All staff at Mt St John's are mandatory reports. As such, if we suspect a child is at risk of harm we are obliged to report our concerns. A link to a copy of this policy, which can be found on the school's website, is below.
