Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
I ask that you continue to keep those who have been affected by flooding in your prayers this week. It’s been devastating to see our colleagues at schools in Lismore, Ballina and the north have to once again clean up their schools so children can continue to learn. We are blessed to live on the mountain in a sense and I am feeling grateful that our classrooms have been operational for most of the week.
The following is a prayer we will be praying with students into next week.
Compassionate God, source of all comfort,
We pray for the people whose lives have been devastated by rain and flood.
Bring them comfort, we pray.
Protect the vulnerable.
Strengthen the weak.
Keep at bay the spread of disease.
Have mercy on all those working to rescue the stranded and to feed the hungry.
And may our response to their suffering be generous and bring you praise.
For we ask it in Jesus name,
Amen
This week I stayed up in Dorrigo so that our classes could continue. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Stage 2 class as their teacher. There has been some impressive learning happening in this class and I am energised by the learning taking place. I look forward to working with them next week. Mrs Sprowles will connect with the children via zoom in small groups. She has worked closely with them to review their writing goals this week. Next week I will travel back up, along with Mr Lee, so that classes can continue as normal while the mountain is closed.
Regards,
Nathan Trezise,
Principal
We are honoured to be on the ancestral lands of the Gumbaynggirr people. We acknowledge the First Australians as the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. We pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend our recognition to their descendants who are present.

Term 1 Swimming Program
Hopefully we will be able to hold our swimming lessons next week!
Students will need to bring swimmers, a towel, goggles, caps (the school can provide swimming caps for those students who don't own one), and sun shirts to school each Thursday for their lesson. There is no extra cost for swimming lessons, as the school covers the pool entry fees and payments to the swim teachers.
Swimming lessons will take place each Thursday in Term 1 (weather permitting) at the following times:
Stage 3 at 1pm
Stage 2 at 1.40pm
K - 2 at 2.20pm
Students will walk to and from the pool. Please note, K - 2 students are to be collected from the pool at the end of the day each Thursday as their lesson will finish at 3:05pm. Due to Covid regulations Tracey has asked that parents pick their children up from outside the pool. K - 2 students catching buses will do so from Dorrigo Public School, supervised by our staff.
Lenten Program for Parents
Parent Assembly is offering a Lenten program via zoom for parents - see flyer below for registration information.

Road Safety Newsletter
Families can help keep children safe by:
- Sticking to the speed limit and following the road rules in school zones
- Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing
- Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes
- Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic.
- Never drop off or meet children on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop or call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop.
- Encouraging their children to be distraction-free around buses - put down their phone and take off their headphones.
